Bar Plots for Percentages of Muslims Favoring Harsh Sharia Punishments, Based on Pew (2013)

In a recent article I documented my fact-check of some claims in the popular media about Pew's (2013) data for Muslims' opinions on the death penalty for apostasy. The title of the Pew survey report, again, is The World's Muslims: Religion, Politics, and Society (April 30, 2013). Here I show a bar plot of the percentages of Muslims in each country surveyed who favored the death penalty for apostasy (Q92b), based on the data reported on p. 219 of Pew's (2013) Complete Report. I also show bar plots for Muslims' opinions on harsh corporal punishments (Q92c, p. 220) and stoning for adultery (Q92d, p. 221).

Figure 1. “Do you favor or oppose the following: the death penalty for people who leave the Muslim religion?"

Figure 2. “Do you favor or oppose the following: punishments like whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery?”

Figure 3. “Do you favor or oppose the following: stoning people who commit adultery?”
